Since my mom is visiting Thailand from August to November, Aaron and I decided to go see her in Bangkok. We flew Labor Day weekend to see her and then took a road-trip to Cha-Am and Hua Hin Beach. These beach resorts are located about 2 1/2 hours drive Southwest of Bangkok. On the way there we decided to stop in Phetchaburi which is an old town famous for custard deserts, pure palm sugar, and an old palace on the mountain (Khao Wang). This summer palace belong to King Rama IV who is the same king portrayed in the King and I play. We took a trolley up the mountain to check out the palace. The palace was very unique with old European furniture and dishware. Most interestingly, we came across some famous monkeys who roam the mountain freely. They seemed harmless but the signs say differently.

We continued with our trip to Cha-Am where my aunt and uncle (cousins of my mom) had a very nice condominium at the beach. Check out the cool view from our room. It was great. We played with the waves on the ocean and walked on the beach. We even had a huge pool to swim in.

While we were at the beach we decided to visit a local fishing pier where there were fishing boats and crab boats. We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant where you picked your seafood and they cooked it right there for you to eat. We had stir-fried curry crab, steamed crab, chilli clams and some unique tiny lobsters that we had never seen before. Everything was really good and tasty. By the way, that is stingray that Aaron is looking at, he kept his distance. Hahahaha!!

Later that day, my mom wanted to go and buy some crab to take home with us so Aaron and I decided to take a walk around the beach area and check out the local boats. The weather was really great, nice and cool.
In addition to the beach, we visited some local tourist sites such as a temple at Khao Ta Kiep (which translates as Chop Stick Mountain). It had some unique religious figures and interestingly again, monkeys. There were monkeys everywhere.
