Our Holiday Trip to New Zealand

Well, this year we decided to satisfy our adventurous appetite again and so we went to New Zealand. The adventure was not that we saw the most beautiful mountains. Or that we saw the most amazing landscapes. Or that we saw the tallest peak in Australasia. No, the adventure was to take a toddler with us on a two week road-trip in a RV aka Campervan. Yes, it was an adventure with high points and low points.

We first drove to Auckland in the North Island. Spent some days enjoying the Antartica and Underwater world there and the Sky Tower. We then went to Rotorua to see the hot springs and geysers. We next went to Whakapapa village to see the volcanoes and Togariro National Park from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Our next stop was Wellington where we spent 1-minute of New Year's eve and enjoyed TePapa Museum (Arts, Culture, Children activities) on New Year's Day.

We then took a ferry with our campervan to the South Island. We stopped at Cloudy Bay for some wine tasting in Blenheim. Our next stop was Kaikoura where we saw seals and a sheep sheering farm. We enjoyed the beautiful mountain range and seashores there. We then drove to Christchurch to see the earthquake damage and the Cathedral. A day was spent at the Botanic Garden and the International Antartic Center there. We then drove to Mount Cook National Park to see Mount Cook of course. Unfortunately, it was rainy and foggy so we spent time at the Sir Edmund Hillary center (He was a New Zealander that first climbed Mount Everest). We then drove to Queenstown and enjoyed the spectacular view of the mountains and lakes. We also saw some Bungy jumping.

Overall, it was very beautiful in New Zealand and we got to see some terrific sights from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Audrey got to see cows, sheep, penguins, Kiwi birds, ducks, exotic fish. She also came back with the most vocabulary to date. Yes, she talked the whole time there and now it seems she is just this little person that has small conversations with us. She also learn how to say the alphabet from A-Z and sing "Jingle Bells", "We wish you a Merry Christmas" and "Do you know the Muffin Man" during the trip. She loves to run, jump, and climb. She was quite interested when she saw the Bungy jumpers. I think she will return to New Zealand on her own for her own adventure.
